DIY Cotton Candy Valentine

If you have been reading A Bubbly Life long enough, you may know I am not totally into sweets. There are a few exceptions to this rule and cotton candy is one of them! I looovvveee cotton candy.  So, why not make cotton candy valentines this year, instead of chocolate?

Materials:
Cotton Candy
Alphabet Sugar Sheets*

* The reviews for this said it would be very difficult to get the letters and I was worried but I still wanted to try.  I had no problem peeling the letters off at all, so perhaps the product has been updated since some reviews.  It was SO ridiculously easy.  I even left a review on the product so others see that it was easy, ha!

All you do is peel the letters off and attach, you may need to put a dot of water to the back of the letter to get it to stick.  The letters taste just like a bit of sugar, they do not have much flavor.

Instead of plain white cotton candy cones, I like to grab a party horn for more color to put the cotton candy on!

How about a heart for Valentine's Day?

Happy Valentine's Day!! Try something sweet AND original this Valentine!  Will be such a sweet surprise!

DIY Upcycled Cactus Light

Ok, this is one of those DIY posts where I am not sure if I have lost my mind or I am actually a creative genius.   My guess is it lies somewhere in the middle of these two extremes?  I think Nick thinks I have lost my mind.  He did not say it but he gently nodded and I think I saw pity in his eyes when I asked him what he thought of the cactus.  Kalia totally loves it and that makes me happy or maybe it shouldn't because I am losing her down the crazy rabbit hole?  Hey, at least I will have a friend down there!

Anyhoo, let's get started.

Found what I believe is a paper towel holder at thrift store.  I swore it looked like a cactus.  You may have seen this on my Instagram Stories (I share all my thrifting finds on stories!)  This terrible resolution picture is a screengrab from my stories, as I did not take a proper before picture.

Spray painted it pink, added twinkle lights (makes it look like thorns, right!?) and it is now a cute pink accent piece for the house!

So, what do you think?  I really like it.  And, remember before you make fun of me, creativity takes COURAGE.  Haha, just kidding, I can take what you throw at me! Just send tissues and wine ;)

DIY Valentine Sprinkle Pills

I know I have done sprinkle pills before, but when I saw Valentine heart sprinkles, I just could not resist doing a Valentine version of the pills.  They are so cute and a perfect love potion for your Valentine or Galentine! And you can eat them!

Maybe one day I will use the capsule maker to make homemade vitamins- technically that is what it is used for and not to make glitter or sprinkle pills... ;)

Materials:
Double 00 Capsules
Double 00 Capsule Machine Filler (or you can make a handful by opening the capsules yourself)
Heart & Red & Pink Nonpareils-  I linked to the ones I used- I picked up mine at the grocery store!

Fill your capsules with sprinkles!

Press down and they are filled!

Pop them out!

DIY Kawaii Heart Balloons

I love Valentine's Day.  The holiday is filled with love, pink, flowers and hearts- pretty much all my favorite things!!

Materials:
Heart Balloons (I picked up mine at the 99cent store)
Black Vinyl
Scissors
Circle Punch (if you are like me & have terrible cutting skills)

The steps are really simple, punch out some circles and cut out some eyelashes, mouths and whatever designs you may want!  You can do a google image search for "kawaii heart emoticon" and a ton of ideas will come up, or just use the ones here!  These were so fun to make, easy and the girls loveee them.

Haha, I like (what the girls call surprise face) is staring up at all the other balloons in this one:

The little eyelash gal is my favorite

Recipe Red Pepper Vegetable Smoothie

Since it is January, instead of a cocktail, I like to share one of my favorite smoothie recipes.  Last year, I shared my green juice smoothie and a green smoothie bowl.  This red pepper smoothie is a new favorite of mine, I prefer it as a juice, but I do not have a juicer at home, so I blend it two times on the Juice option on my blender and will drink it as a smoothie.

Ingredients:
Base of 1 cup of ice & 1 cup of water
1 large Red Bell Pepper
3-4 large Carrots
1/4 cup of Orange Juice
1/4 cup of Lime Juice (about half a good sized lime)
1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon
1/2 inch knob of fresh Ginger

Blend all ingredients.  If you have a juicer, try as a juice instead!  Anytime I make smoothies, I try to stick with produce that is organic, if a vegetable is not organic, I usually peel the skin before adding to the blender.

Cheers!  I will be back to serving up cocktails shortly!

I want to do it all. Yet I feel like this deflated balloon, ha.   I had a great, busy week. I hit the ground running right after the New Year and the exhaustion is catching up. Hoping to get some stellar naps in this weekend.

A Bubbly Life this week- First DIY of 2017!! DIY Holographic Plant Pots  and Fonts & Designs for Your Valentine

DIY Holographic Plant Pots

The first DIY of 2017!  Has anyone else become obsessed with holographics on all the things?  I blame Ban.do and all their cute stuff for my love.  And I am warning you, there may be more holographic DIYs in your future...  It is just the pop of color I love without being TOO over powering.

Materials:
Vinyl Holographic Film Sticker- I used Pink & Translucent (there are a ton of colors available)
Scissors
White Plant Pots
Pencil

You want white plant pots since the vinyl film is see through, so any color underneath will show up.  I picked up mine at the thrift store, you could also spray paint any pot you have white.

I have done a similar DIY using marble contact paper- since pots are curved, you cannot just cut out a piece of paper and attach.

Here is the method to cut out the sheet of paper (these steps are from my marble pot DIY which is why the colors are different)

Mark off a spot with tape- this tells you where to begin and end your tracing.  Since we had white pots this time, we marked a spot off with pencil.

Rotate your pot on paper and trace the pot as you go.  Use the taped seam to know your beginning and end.

Once your lines are drawn- connect them at the ends.

Cut it out!  I cut my template on normal paper first, made sure it matched the pot size then used the template to cute the holographic paper.  It is not necessary to do this, but you may want to your first time so you do not waste any holographic paper.

Put it on your pot!  I make the sentence sound easy... The paper bubbles very easy and it is difficult to get smooth.  It takes a few times to smooth out the bubbles.  The good news is after I did the best job I could do and there were STILL a couple bubbles in the paper, the paper somehow evened itself out on the pot later, so maybe I did not need to work so hard ;)  The smaller pots were easier to manage for the bubble problem.

I know it is a little too soon for Valentine's Day, but wouldn't these planters make a perfect gift? The colors are perfect!  Hope you enjoyed! xo

Fonts & Designs For Your Valentine

Post Sponsored by Font Bundles

Over Christmas, I shared Fonts to Make Your Holiday Sparkle which was an amazing font & design bundle for a HUGE discount.  Font Bundles has released an entirely new package for Valentine's Day, again filled with over 1000 fonts and design elements!  It is available for only $29!! (price without bundle for all the elements is $449)  Here are some of my favorite fonts and designs from the Valentine bundle:  (download the bundle here)

All the cute little elements decorating the fonts above are included in the bundle- I think my favorite is that heart balloon <3

A fun print included to be used for any design project or print out for your Valentine (they have many more prints available in the bundle)

And I designed this one with the bicycle design element and the font Dallon.  The Valentine is from the sweet lyrics of the 90s star Nelly.  I am sure he had simple, beautiful intentions.
