A Bubbly Life this week- A Trash Chair Makeover & Then the Story of How I Found out it was NOT Trash and I Stole my Neighbor's Chair

That Time I Mistakenly Stole A Chair From My Neighbor

You may or may have not seen the post from Monday where I found a trash chair and made it over.

Then this happened:

(You have to forgive the photo quality, they are all taken from my phone while trying to not act like I was a chair thief laughing at her crime)

And, I freaked out.  Screenshot of me telling my husband, Nick when I saw sign.  (Nick's name on my phone is Love of my Life- hence the Love Of,  stop making fun of me! also, ignore time stamp, that is when I took screenshot to share with you all)

So, I went and bought a bouquet of flowers to apologize.  I waited til Nick got home though, because I was a little scared they may be crazy.  Because who leaves a sign a week later about a missing rusted chair?  I rang doorbell twice, waited and no answer. So, we left it:

At around 9pm I drove the few houses down in pajamas and the chair was on patio, flowers gone, but sign still up.  If they leave me another sign it would make my life complete.

I can say with 1000% sincerity I had NO idea this was not trash and I miss my pink chair.  Hope she/he enjoys it!!  And I am soooooo sorry for mistakenly taking it!

UPDATE May 2nd: Finally, I drove by and there was a new sign!

DIY Marbled Upcycled Vases

I am over on PBteen today sharing an easy way to upcycle food glass containers in celebration of Earth Month.  We know I am a huge fan of marbleizing with nail polish (as seen by my posts Marbled Feathers, Marbled Makeup BrushesMarbled Pumpkins, Marbled Air Planters )

Aren't those colors just so gorgeous mixed?

DIY Thrifted Trash Chair Makeover

I spotted a chair in my neighbor's trash, pulled over, looked at it, then said Nah and drove off.  9pm that night I could not stop thinking about it.  I went to go get the trash chair and Nick insisted on doing it himself because he did not want his crazy wife rummaging through garbage in the middle of night. He's a great husband.  Patient. Willing to go through trash for me.   Here is an update to this story- the chair was NOT trash.

The before: (and the reason Nick called me crazy)

Nick not-so-lovingly calls it the trash chair.  The trash chair will happily be in my office, which is also why I painted it pink.  I originally wanted white but my office is mostly white with pops of color, so why not have an accent trash chair that is pink?

If you find a trash chair you love, you may want to pick up a lead test at your local hardware store since you may not know the age of the object. After cleaning up the chair, I did some light sanding and then sprayed rust reformer to coat the chair.  A rust reformer spray looks same as spray paint and coats the object so that you can easily apply paint to rusted areas.   Allow the rust reformer spray to dry and then you can apply spray paint.  The sucker used a whole can.

I am working on my office for the next two weeks and hope to have it completed by then!  So,we will see where this ends up as the perfect chair to hold some disco balls ;)

A Bubbly Life this week:  7 Motivational Prints To Inspire & Ignite Your Creativity  and How to Make a Cucumber Salty Dog Cocktail

A Bubbly Life is on BlogLovinFacebookTwitter Pinterest & Instagram- I would love for you to join me there!

How to Make a Cucumber Salty Dog Cocktail

My first cocktail recipe ever on A Bubbly Life was a cucumber Greyhound.  I love it.  What is the difference between a Greyhound and a Salty Dog you ask?  Salt.

A greyhound does not have a salted rim and a salty dog does.  Easy.  I do not think it really needs its' own name, but bartenders make these rules, not I.  And, it gave me an excuse to make another cocktail for the blog and then sip and enjoy it at home.  So, I am a fan of the two names for essentially the same ingredients.

Like the cucumber greyhound, I use cucumber vodka for the Salty Dog.  Cucumber vodka is so refreshing.  It is WAY better this way than with just vodka.

Ingredients:
1 part Cucumber Vodka
2 parts Grapefruit Juice
Salt
Cucumber, grapefruit for garnish

Shake the cucumber vodka, grapefruit juice and ice in your cocktail shaker.  (I use fresh squeezed because I live in AZ & grapefruit is everywhere)

Salt the rim of your glass so you can call the cocktail a Salty Dog.  To get the salt to stick, rim the glass with any citrus and dip in salt.

A Bubbly Life this week: DIY Citrus Ice Buckets  & DIY Mother's Day Flower Bouquet Printables

DIY Citrus Ice Buckets

After I created my DIY sparkle ice bucket, I knew there would be more in my future.  It is such a simple DIY to do, but creates a huge impact for any party.  With Mother's Day on the horizon, these pretty citrus ice buckets would be perfect for a brunch.

Materials:
Bucket
Cup- One that would fit a wine bottle, champagne bottle or any bottle you want to keep chilled
Weight- I used a bottle of alcohol in this case to hold it down
Citrus- oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit (anything you want!)
Citrus leaves (I live in AZ, so we have tons of citrus trees around)
Water- Distilled, purified water will be clearer
Freezer

Fill a bucket with water and add citrus slices and leaves.  Add cup and your weight to keep the cup from floating.  Freeze overnight or at least 8 hours.  5 hours is not enough- I broke one :(

Paw Patrol Easter Baskets work awesome for this, any 99cent basket will do!

To remove, run warm water on outside of bucket until the ice starts to slide.  Gently remove and slide out.

DIY Agate Slice Hair Clips

I love these pretty agate slice gemstones.  I have used them in a couple DIYs- Agate Stone Magnets & Agate Christmas Ornaments!  Agate slices are such a beautiful material to work with- and it makes any DIY easier- they are so pretty, you do not need to do much at all!

Materials:
Agate Slices-  available here & here
Hair Clips
Glue  (I used e6000, any strong super glue should work)

Glue agate slice to barrette.

Wipe any excess glue off and let the hair clips dry.  No one wants their hair stuck in the glue- ouch!

And, put it in your hair!  I like to call it- I have a pretty colored clip in my hair, which totally takes away from the fact that I am a hot mess Mom.
