Fashion Crush: Summer Lovin

I have not done a crush in a long time and now that Summer is here, it seemed like the best time to go internet window shopping.  It wasn't all window shopping though, I ended up buying a flamingo bathing suit (it was 50% off last night!)... and it didn't even make the roundup!  Ha, maybe that is why I should not do roundups, it costs me too much money!

1.  Watermelon purse (who doenst need one of these?)
2.  A pineapple rocking heart sunglasses tank top.
3.  A colorful beach towel with all my summer favs!
4.  Flamingo phone case.  Pink & flamingo- I heart.
5.  I really want this bag... and it may be a future purchase.

Happy Summer!!

DIY No Sew Sequin Lip Pillow #5WaystoDIY

I am so happy to share another #5WaystoDIY project with you! Last time, we all did a wooden tray and this time we decided to make over a pillow 5 different ways- it was the most popular request in the comments last time!

Also, this time we have an even BIGGER giveaway- a chance to win $250 to shop at AllModern! Just let us know in comments what you want us to do next for #5WaystoDIY, bonus entries are available in the widget at end of post.

Now, for the pillow!  AllModern provided each blogger with a pillow to makeover.  I jumped on the pink pillow and did a gold sequin lip.  Seriously, this was so easy it is almost embarrassing to call it a tutorial.  I was really nervous and thought it wouldn't work out.  It took me minutes!!

Check out all the other pillows today- 4 other ways to DIY your pillow! Sarah Hearts &  Oleander & Palm & Pars Caeli  & Delineate Your Dwelling

How to Make A No Sew Sequin Lip Pillow!

Materials:
Pillow
Sequin Trim
E6000 Glue
Lip Outline
Tape

* I used glue because I suck at cannot sew and was told fabric glue would not work well on sequins from the sewing people at Hobby Lobby.  If you can sew, use the fabric glue to put it in place, let dry and sew!

Unzip and remove the pillow cover from the pillow.  Place a piece of cardboard/paper inside of pillow cover so you do not glue everything together.

Print out your lip outline here, cut out the lip and tape it to your pillow.

Lay your sequin on the outline and gradually glue following the outline.

Let dry and put a pillow in!

MUWAH!!

In these photos, you also see a side of my house never shown- a crazy corner of my house covered with plants.  I am not the cat lady, I am the plant lady.  I never take photos here because the lighting is not great but I just love the pink pillow with all the green! (this is also maybe 1/10th of my plants, I cant keep them alive, my husband thankfully does) My house is pretty much plants and a few pieces of furniture, except my office-thats like a disco ball glitter flamingo explosion.

Oh and if anyone has tips on ferns not shedding everywhere- please let me know!

Good luck in the giveaway!  Don't forget to let us know what you would like to see next for #5WaystoDIY!

I didn't mean to have a special flamingo edition of links I love but it so happened that three of the first links were flamingo, so I decided to roll with the theme!

Kate Spade has a whole flamingo line and I am loving this coverup and this wristlet and this watch (a flamingo watch!? seriously)

This Little Street has a flamingo pull toy DIY that I HAVE to make (for the kids, of course, not me...)

Also, wear a flamingo as a hat in this DIY

Get these flamingo candles pictured above at the always amazing Etsy shop The Bannerie.

I also happen to have some flamingo diys for ya- Flamingo Picnic/Beach Blanket  & a DIY Tasseled Picnic Basket (Ok, it is not a flamingo diy, but I put a flamingo in it and it is cuteeeee)

In non-flamingo news, but very important craft news, a new curated craft site Makers, Bakers, Movers & Shakers has begun and I love the look!  Check it out and find some new DIYS for your weekend!

DIY Iron On Phrase Tote Bags

I love the thrift store, it inspires so many of my projects because I am a cheapskate and find crafty materials there all the time and since I never know what I will find, I never know what I may do next! I scored a huge lot of iron on transfer papers for $1 and here is my first DIY with them- I pretty much want to iron on transfer all the things now... it was SO flipping easy.

Materials:
Iron on Transfer Paper
Printer
Tote Bag  (I really like Darby Smart's tote bag, I have purchased the thinner ones at craft stores but these are perfecto- heavier, thick and only $3)
Scissors or Paper Trimmer

You can download and use my phrases or create your own!
Download I <3 U but Ive Chosen Disco.   #sorrynotsorry
Download Just Sitting here on the corner of Awesome & Bombdiggity.
Download I Need a Hug......e Glass of Wine

Also, I am not that clever, I chose funny statements from my Pinterest Board- Bubbly Laughs

If you make your own phrases, remember to do the mirror image in your design (click the printables above to see what I mean)

Print out your phrase and trim the paper down.  Lay your tote on a pillowcase and iron the tote to remove any wrinkles before applying.  Lay your paper down and iron!  Since these are large, I ironed for 3 minutes, hold the iron down firmly and pay attention to the corners!

Let it cool and remove the paper- I did this pretty slowly, I was scared to mess any letters up!

One more of my favorite bag:

Omgosh this watercolor watermelon drawn cake is amazing.

An edible sprinkle bowl for ice cream! How has this not been done before!? Awesome!

These dinosaur party scenes from Handmade Charlotte are cracking me up.

DIY Best Dad Ever Etched Glass

Father's Day is on its' way and face it my husband could use a drink. Ha!

Actually, my husband rarely drinks and when he does it is a fruity appletini, but a martini glass saying Best Dad Ever was not really for the masses, so I engraved a beer pint glass instead.

Get the tutorial over on Momtastic today!

DIY Tasseled Picnic Basket

Picnics are awesome.  Fresh air, outdoors and FOOD!  In Arizona, we have picnics in non-Summer months because the weather is gorgeous.  In Summer, we all would melt away if we picnicked outdoors but you would all hate me for posting a picnic basket in February, so I post it in Summer for all you readers cuz I love you.  (but really I am super jealous cuz I would love to picnic right now!)

Thrift store hunting one day and came across this picnic basket for $5.00:

Spray painted it white and added tassels!!

To make your small tassels, get some embroidery floss in your favorite colors:

In a shocking twist, pink embroidery floss showed up a lot for my selections!

Cut one long thread out and cut that strip in half.  Bend the embroidery floss in half and tie leaving a small loop on top.
Cut the bottoms of the tassel.  Tie a string to the loop and attach to your picnic basket!

DIY Pineapple Stamped Picnic Blanket

Patterned stamp projects are so fun to do and easy.  After my flamingo picnic blanket last year, I wanted an easier way to do a large pattern, I loved using contact paper for a stencil but it was time consuming.

I walked in one day while my husband was working on the tile backsplash in our kitchen and said my, that is a big sponge you have there... and the idea for a large stamped patterned DIY project was born!

Materials:
Extra Large/Grout Tile Sponge
Scissors
Marker/Pencil
Paint
Paint Brush
Dropcloth/Tablecloth

Trace your design onto the sponge and cut out!  I went with pineapple for a summer picnic.

Pour paint onto sponge.

Brush paint all over sponge to coat.

Press firmly down onto blanket. Kalia helped me a few times- she loves when I do paint projects.

Repeat pattern until your blanket is complete!
