DIY Glitter Pills

P.S. I also made DIY Sprinkle Pills here!

I just returned from Alt Summit, an amazing creative conference for bloggers and small business owners.  Business cards are a way to show off your creative side- while giving way your pertinent information.

For my business cards, I included some glitter pills for everyone to enjoy!  They are very easy to make, although if you are making 450, it can be a bit time consuming.

I used the glitter pills to show off the sparkly side of business; the glitter pills would be great for any bachelorette party, wedding shower, or really, any day that needs a bit more sparkle.

How to Make Glitter Pills
Materials:
00 Empty Capsules
Capsule Machine 00 *
Glitter (your standard size flakes, do not get extra fine, or it will look too powdery)
Paper or some surface you can get messy with glitter.

* You can pour glitter into open capsules and close yourself, but I needed about 450 of these, so, a machine it was for me!

Directions:

Put a piece of paper underneath machine to catch all the glitter that falls.

Break open empty capsules and put into the corresponding holes on the capsule machine.  Pour glitter onto the large capsule side.

Use a card to spread glitter around so all pills are filled.  It is like Breaking Bad without the violence and drugs.  A glam version.

Press the top and bottom parts together.  (this is my 3 year old's hand, she loved helping me make them)

Release and all pills are closed and filled!

I know it looks messy, but the capsules will not break open unless forced, so you do not need to worry about getting glitter everywhere after they are made. However, the making process, will create quite a glitter mess.

I included a couple pills with my business card in a clear bag closed with washi tape.

Disclaimer: I do not recommend eating glitter pills.  They are for fun and in case of a sparkle emergency.  Laurel Stavros and/or A Bubbly Life are not responsible if you ingest glitter pills.  But if you do, drop me an email and let me know what happens.

DIY Gold Leaf Heart Drink Stirrers

Anyone else have Valentine's Day on the brain?  Or is that just a crazy, blogger thing  (and we all know I particularly loooovvvveeeeeee hearts and pink) These drink stirrers are not just for Valentine's Day, how cute would they be for a wedding, engagement party, shower... etc etc...

Materials:
Wooden Heart Flourishes
Wood Sticks
Glue
Gold Leaf
Gold Leaf Adhesive
Paintbrush

How to Make Gold Leaf Heart Drink Stirrers-

Glue a heart onto your wooden stick, use a clothespin to hold.

Once glue is dry, brush gold leaf adhesive into heart and let dry.

Apply gold leaf, press firmly around heart and remove sheet.

They make awesome drink stirrers- or you can add them to a cake or cupcake too- or do all three! And invite me to that party- I would love a party with drinks, cakes and cupcakes...

DIY Gem Cake Toppers

Parties, cake, diamonds, color!  I pretty much love everything here!  One of my first ideas for Colette's first birthday party was a "You're A Gem" theme.  However, I went with a different theme (under wraps for now ;) but this idea was one of my first in the party planning stage.  I still may keep them for her cake and definitely keeping them as cocktail stirrers (for other parties not my one year old's...)

Materials:
Diamond table scatterers (clear plastic, the ones in material list are already painted :)
Drill with 1/16th bit
Paint
Paint Brushes
Superglue or another fast acting glue, hot glue
Bamboo Skewers or Thin Wooden Dowels

* I scored mine at the thrift store for $2, but most any party site has them!

How to Make Gem Cake Toppers!

Drill a hole through the bottom of the diamond.
My box had 3 different sizes of diamonds, the small ones were nearly impossible to drill, but the bigger ones are much easier!

Put glue in hole, insert skewer!

Paint!

Also, makes a great drink stirrer- perfect for any You're a Gem Party, engagement, wedding shower party!

I love them and the colors!

DIY Crush: Organization

I think organization should be pretty, it helps with the whole being organized thing.  Well, I think it does, but I do lack organization skills... I blame it on a creative mind?
While I may be disorganized, I do try (despite my husband's claims...) and these are my favorite picks from around the blogosphere!

Ways to organize:
Anything looks good in leather catchalls
Anything (again) looks good in gold leaf bowls
Your magazines
Your shampoo bottles
Your rings
Your office supplies, biz cards and magazines.

DIY Black & White Acrylic Painted Trays

Yesterday, I shared one pretty way to get organized- Moroccan Wedding Blanket Storage Baskets and today it is painted acrylic trays! My latest post for PBteen is up and was inspired by their new black and white sheets- Four black and white designs to corral your items!

DIY Moroccan Wedding Blanket Storage Baskets

I have previously shared my love for Moroccan Wedding Blankets in a prior DIY- a Moroccan Wedding Blanket Table Runner.  That DIY was more loosely based- I switched it up with some gold sequin instead of the traditional silver.  For these storage baskets, I stuck to the original beautiful versions of Moroccan wedding blankets I have seen on Pinterest.  And, as per my usual, this DIY is NO SEW!

Materials:
Plain Storage Baskets *
Fabric Glue
Silver Sequin Stretch Trim 1 inch
Silver Sequin Trim 6mm (not shown, I decided to add it in after I began work on the baskets and the material shot was already taken)
Fringe Trim
Scissors
Optional- pretty silver/white trim I found at fabric store...
Clothespins

* I purchased mine at H&M Home (my newest online home obsession...) I liked the "slouchy" look they had for the baskets
** length of trim needed is based on the size of your baskets

How to Make a DIY Moroccan Wedding Blanket Storage Basket

There are no in process shots for this one, because it was quite simple- I glued the trim to the basket, alternating sequins and fringe.  I used clothespins and a heavy book to help seal the glue.

I flipping love them.  I cannot afford a Moroccan Wedding Blanket for my bed or wall, so these help soothe the desire!

Everyone stores confetti and ribbons in storage baskets near a tray full of disco balls, right?

For readers at home, who may not have containers of confetti to store-  the storage baskets make a great use for remote controls, electronics, toys, etc...

Number Two: Copper pipe iPad holder  I use this daily and made 3 for Christmas presents (per request) So, it was a hit on the home front too!
